THIXOMAT REPORTS EXCELLENT RESULTS FROM
RECENT K SHOW IN DUSSELDORF GERMANY

ANN ARBOR, MI:--Ann Arbor based Thixomat, Inc. reports high interest and excellent results at the recent K Show in Dusseldorf Germany. The K Show is the world's largest plastics exposition and is held every three years.

Thixomat, a technology development company, owns the worldwide licensing rights to the unique Thixomolding® technology for the injection molding of magnesium alloys. The company exhibits at plastics expositions to introduce its process to design engineers and companies whose products now are being produced in plastics.

By converting to Thixomolded magnesium, companies can market a product that is lighter, thinner and stronger than is possible with engineered plastics according to Herb Pritzker, Director, Marketing of the technology development company.

“We had serious inquiries from companies in Sweden, India, Germany, Austria, Italy, China and Taiwan among other countries,” he said.

"Our process results in a lighter product because it takes less material on a volumetric basis to achieve the same residual strength that can be obtained with engineered plastics," he adds.

Because of that ability, Thixomolding has become extremely popular with companies that produce cameras, cell phones, computers hardware, sporting goods and other products where designers are looking for strength while attempting to reduce weight.

"Buyers are looking for products that are easy to handle,
light and stylish. Our process enables designers to market products that meet those needs," Pritzker adds.

Now, automotive companies, mandated to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency are looking to convert heavier plastic and aluminum parts to Thixomolded magnesium. Additionally, Thixomolded magnesium has far less porosity and exhibits other benefits not possible with aluminum components produced by diecasting, another metal forming process.
